"It is a moment of immense pleasure for me to know that Sarhad University of Science & Technology, Peshawar has taken an initiative to organize 1st Euro-Pak International Conference on Sports Sciences and Physical Education with theme as ‘Sports and Sports Sciences’ reshaping life. The Conference has been planned with the assistance of partner Universities/Organizations, which include Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan, University of the Punjab, Lahore, and the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. I believe that nothing of value can be expected from a community, if the teaching and research in Sports Sciences and Physical Education is ignored. Through such initiatives, students are exposed to the broad range of applications of the Sports Science e.g. Health Promotion, Rehabilitation, and Physical Education, etc. Realizing the virtues and benefits of sports and exercise, the advanced countries have included Sports Sciences and Physical Education as an essential part of curriculum, at all levels of Education. I am happy that for the first time, a unique Conference is being organized in Pakistan. The outcomes of the Conference will surely bring a positive change in the field of the Sports and Sports Sciences, as well as help change the sports culture in the country. Partner Introduction

The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (reporting name:HEC), is an independent, autonomous, and constitutionally established institution of primary funding, overseeing, regulating, and accrediting the higher education efforts in Pakistan.

Preceded by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 2002 by a constitutional amendment, the universities were formerly accredited by the UGC established in 1947; the institution was revised 1974 and came its modern form in 2002 under the leadership of Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman FRS its founding Chairman, with additional executive reforms granted by the constitution. It operates directly under the Prime Minister and is not subservient to the Ministry of Education. Under a new and revised reforms, the HEC is made responsible for formulating higher education policy and quality assurance to meet the international standards as well as providing accrediting academic degrees, development of new institutions, and uplift of existing institutions in Pakistan.
